About Rose
Rose concentrates on creating very special pieces of art. Her focus is to produce unique images that capture a moment in time. She is best known for her photographs of children and young adults. You can see some samples of her work on this website or please call her if you would like to view her portfolio.
As well as private commissions, Rose occasionally undertakes Corporate work. This generally revolves around portraiture, giving companies access to more artistic images. Her work has been used in advertising, corporate brochures, as well as music album covers. Samples can be seen under the Corporate heading above.
Rose also has solo exhibitions of her work:
Is It Art?
Norden Arts Centre, Berkshire. 5th November – 1st December 2002
‘Is It Art? ‘explores the different perceptions of photographic art. Intriguing and enjoyable the exhibition looks at the familiar in unusual ways, and by contrasting styles and approaches, Rose invites the viewer to consider what makes a photograph a piece of art.
The exhibition also included one of Rose’s ‘signature’ installations, a giant composite image (3m x 3m) made up of 144 separate images.
This is what people have been saying about the exhibition…
“Enlightening, educational and so inspiring”
“Fascinating – every local school child should be brought in and invited to discuss this fundamental question…”
“Inspiring and beautiful”
“A circuit of the gallery takes you through a range of different styles and techniques, and the accompanying text, which invites you to assess the artistic virtues of the options on display, avoids the traps of being too highbrow or too patronising. A clockwise route culminates in a wonderful series of flower images which show Rose’s abilities to the full.”
“Rose’s latest exhibition further demonstrates her ability to capture the underlying expressions of her subjects, whether the simplistic beauty of flowers or the emotions contained in a human face. It’s a delight to show her work at Norden.”
Annabel Turpin – Director Norden Arts Centre.
Faces
Norden Arts Centre, Berkshire
5th – 17th February 2002
In 2001 Rose began a large and on-going personal piece of work, FACES.
Rose asked children aged between 8 and 16 to be photographed and insisted that they neither wore makeup nor smiled. “I find that images of children not smiling are more intriguing and so reflect a greater depth of character” she explains. “The thought-provoking expressions seem to blur the boundaries between child and adult.”
Each child is photographed in exactly the same way, yet each shows a powerful sense of individuality. Rose now has hundreds of portraits of children in the collection.
In February 2002 the first major exhibition of FACES was held at Norden Arts Centre in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
Here are some comments made by visitors to the exhibition.
“Stunning and thought provoking”
“Everyone is so different – fascinating”
“it’s a fascinating concept – it makes you look at people in a different way”
“I found the images compelling to look at”
“I can’t stop staring!”
“Rose’s FACES exhibition at Norden in February was one of the most popular, the best attended and the most talked about exhibitions in the Centre’s history, and one that I found creatively inspiring. Above all, it captured the collective imagination, which is something we strive to do everyday. We are therefore delighted to enjoy such a good relationship with such an intelligent and innovative artist as Rose.”
